Meet Christina: Educational and Systems Consultant, Transformational Leader, and Advocate for Unlearning and Innovation
Christina Jones, CEO and Owner, Humane In The Membrane, LLC.
I’m Christina Jones, a dynamic leader, transformational educator, and strategic learning consultant with over 20 years of experience guiding individuals, teams, and organizations toward excellence. With a B.A. in Music Education from Xavier University of Louisiana, an M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction (Adult Education) from Central Michigan University, and an Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in Instructional Technology & Instructional Design Systems from the University of Missouri, Columbia, I combine academic rigor with practical expertise and joy to lead impactful initiatives and drive meaningful change across diverse educational and organizational landscapes.
My career began with developing innovative orchestra and choral programs for secondary students in Atlanta, GA. This foundation in the arts led me to the classroom, where I transitioned to teaching K-3 students. Through my leadership roles as Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Professional Development; District Content Coordinator (K-2 Math); Parent and Community Outreach Coordinator; and Manager of Curriculum & Instruction for Arts and PE at Denver Public Schools, I have been a driving force in the evolution of learning experiences, ensuring they are equitable, humanizing, and impactful.
Unlearning and Innovation Advocate
As an advocate for unlearning and innovation, I believe in creating spaces where growth is not just intellectual, but also embodied. In my work, I encourage organizations and individuals to challenge outdated systems, rethink conventional approaches, and create environments where people are empowered to thrive. I have led organizational initiatives in education such as Performance-Based and Formative Assessments, Culturally Responsive Education, and Humanizing Pedagogies, directly impacting over 200,000 students, many educators, and school and district leaders. I’ve led teams in developing and successfully implementing district-wide arts and health curricula, conducting comprehensive assessments, and coaching school leaders and educators in areas like Project-Based Learning, personalized learning, and Arts Integration.
Impact Beyond Education
Outside of education, I’ve supported the work of DEJI (Diversity, Equity, Justice, and Inclusion) initiatives, collaborating with national organizations in healthcare and community development to foster empathy, understanding, and meaningful dialogue. One of my recent projects includes partnering with Soul2Soul Sisters to launch a workshop focused on amplifying the voices of Black women and femmes in the workplace, creating space for honest conversations about allyship, healing, empowerment, and collective growth. My approach integrates empowered leadership development with equitable strategies and strategic project and program management to deliver transformative, sustainable outcomes.
Collaborations and Global Impact
I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with prestigious institutions including Tulane University, Xavier University of Louisiana, and the US Department of Education, which solidifies my role as a transformative leader in education. I’ve worked with several national and international nonprofits to strengthen their effectiveness in areas like change management, staff development, leadership coaching, program evaluation, and community outreach. One notable example is my work with MySkin Global in Kenya, where I designed and led a groundbreaking pilot curriculum addressing colorism and mental health for secondary students in Denver Public Schools. My passion for creating innovative, learner-centered educational experiences that nurture both the mind and the heart has established me as a global thought leader in education.
